60 SECOND CRUSH- SEVEN [EP]
Released on September 28, 2012 (independent)
Brooding post-grunge with a slight tinge of garagey punk. Reminds me a lot of Dust For Life, criminally lost after 1 album. This EP represents the group’s last official output (after 3 independent full lengths) before disbanding in early 2013 and it’s not bad, the guitars carrying suitable heft while vocalist Tommy Harman angrily croons through a series of mid-tempo earthshakers. The obvious Alice In Chains influence exists, although I think the lead guitar work here is generally more interesting than other bands of this crowded field. The punk delivery of their cover of Johnny Cash’s “Walk The Line” and the closing track “Head Kicked In” is where the band loses me a bit though, as I find it dumbs down their sound. Still a solid record and something I may revisit on occasion.
