Only Fate Remains – Breathe
Released on October 11, 2011 by Ravenheart Music
It’d be pretty hard for this band to sound any more like Evanescence than they already do, so I’m gonna assume that’s what they were going for (just, you know, Dutch). Beautiful, sweeping female vocals over a bed of clean metal riffs, augmented with a trace of keyboards and a solid yet unimaginative rhythm section. Modern, yet kinda soulless, the vocals are pretty but they lack force. Yeah, she’s hitting the notes, but I’m not getting a sense of emotion or feeling out of it, so it’s all just washing over me. There seem to be dozens of bands aping this sound right now, and I’m not hearing anything here that will take Only Fate Remains above the pack.
